If you’re reading this, either you’re some kind of mystical wizard who’s broken in-to our blog a few days before anyone’s supposed to know about it, or we’ve launched our Kickstarter campaign!
This is a big step forward for AuthExp and for the Mortal Dawn project, and to welcome everyone (and hopefully entice you to subscribe to our sexy little RSS feed!) I’ve decided to write this welcome post.
Who is Authentic Experiences? Well, mainly, we’re me—Zac North—and co-owner of this fine empire, Josiah Nethery. Jo and I have been brainstorming what kind of games we can make and how we can provide some good, quality entertainment to this world since about 2006—why, you could almost say that that’s when we started the company. Actually, you could say that, and it would be true.
For the past few months, we’ve had nigh-on one singular mission: make an instant classic of an RPG. We want to be recognised among the Chrono Trigger’s and Final Fantasy 6’s someday—and we’ve been designing our first project, Mortal Dawn, with that in mind.
What is Mortal Dawn? Mortal Dawn is a role-playing game that takes its visual and story cues from classic console RPG’s like the aforementioned, but infuses it with modern elements such as an episodic structure, branching dialogue, and player choice. Currently, we’re running a Kickstarter project to get Mortal Dawn off the ground—and once it does, the first episode of this experience that we’re crafting will be free to all.
How can you get involved with Mortal Dawn? Well, there’s two ways. You can pledge to us at Kickstarter—and get one of the various rewards that we have, including a full copy of the game on a digital service for only $15—and in addition to that, you can also engage us. Talk to us here, talk to us on our forums, talk to us on Twitter, even email us. We’re open to suggestions, and we intend to take every one of them seriously. We’re the designers, but you’re the fans.
